Motor Vehicle Accident with Heavy Rescue

The East Northport Fire Department responded to a two car Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries and entrapment yesterday afternoon at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 3rd Street.

Under the command of Hook & Ladder Captain Cambria, EMS crews began to assess and treat two patients until Rescue/Engine 2-10-6 and 2-10-1 arrived on scene and began working with extrication tools and equipment including the "Jaws of Life" to free the trapped patient. The passengers side door was removed allowing EMS crews to safely move the patient from the vehicle to the ambulance where they were further treated and transported to a local hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries along with the driver of the vehicle.
The occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.

The scene was turned over to the Suffolk County Police Department for an accident investigation.
