East Northport Fire Department Rescue Crew Receives Lifesaving Awards

On November 16th, 2014, at 1:03 p.m., the East Northport Fire Department received a rescue call reporting a victim in Cardiac Arrest. Upon arrival of the ambulance crew, a 58-year-old female was found lying on the sidewalk of the IGA Shopping Center on Larkfield Road and Clay Pitts Road, and was in confirmed Cardiac Arrest.

The East Northport FD Rescue Squad crew performed CPR with Advanced Life Support, and then transported the patient to the Huntington Hospital. Members worked proficiently and professionally to assure that the patient received the best possible care under the circumstances.

As a result of the Rescue Crew’s persistency in maintaining good and adequate CPR and Advanced Life Support, they afforded the patient the best chance of survival and she was later released from the hospital.

The rescue crew of Captain/EMT Thomas Bourne, EMT-CC Charlie Maury, EMT Marilyn Resch and Firefighter Vincent Pastore were presented with Pre-Hospital Save Awards by the Suffolk Regional Emergency Medical Services Council on January 13, 2015. In addition, the crew received EMS Medals for their Lifesaving actions presented by the East Northport Fire Chiefs on February 9, 2015.
