Overnight Structure Fire


On Sunday morning at 1:42am the East Northport Fire Department received multiple reports of a structure fire in the vicinity of Elmbark Lane and Abby drive. Upon the arrival of Chief Heffernan (2-10-30) a fully involved structure fire was located in the court on Elmbark Lane. During initial investigation it was obtained that the structure was currently under renovations and believed to be unoccupied. Engine crews established a positive water source and worked numerous hose lines from the exterior as the Tower Ladder directed a master water stream from above on to the fire. ENFD responded with 3 Chiefs, 4 Engines, 1 Tower Ladder, 2 ambulances, Paramedic Responder and Fire Police. Assistance was provided by Commack Fire Department with a Rapid Intervention Team. Paramedics from the Greenlawn Fire Department, Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Dix Hills Fire Department responded as part of The Cyanide Response Team. Town of Huntington Fire Coordinators assisted with additional resources. Coverage for the district was provided by the Northport Volunteer Fire Department with an Engine and Greenlawn Fire Department with an Ambulance. There were no injuries. The scene was deemed under control in 1 hour. ENFD units remained on scene for over 3 hours. Town of Huntington Fire Marshals office and Suffolk county police arson squad are currently investigating.
