The East Northport Fire Department at there July Department Meeting recognized EMT Jon Desjardins with the Departments EMT Medal and The Chiefs Medal, for his actions on the Long Island Railroad in October of 2012. Jon while commuting to work assisted in a cardiac arrest on the train and contributed to the full recovery of the individual, who he would later find out was a member of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. Jon is being recognized later in the year with the Suffolk County REMSCO Basic Life Support provider of the year and he is also going to be awarded the New York State Basic Life Support Provider of the year for his actions.
