East Northport Fire Dept responded to a vehicle that struck a pole early Sunday morning at 12:51am. The driver was treated and released at the scene by Ambulance 5. Engine 1 and 6 secured the vehicle. The scene was turned over to Suffolk County Police Department.
Just after 5am Tuesday morning ENFD firefighters responded to a commercial vehicle fire in the parking lot of the East Northport library on University Place.
Firefighters worked for several hours under the command of Chief Steven Macedonio to extinguish a heavily involved front loading sanitation truck.
One firefighter was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries and later released.
There were no other injuries.
Earlier this evening just as crews were cleaning up to go back in to service from a small outside fire on the south side of town, our dispatch center began to receive multiple phone calls for a vehicle fire on Pulaski Road in the vicinity of Elwood Road. Engine 2-10-6 was out the door responding in under a minute and on scene in under three minutes. Crews arrived to find a heavily involved engine compartment fire that had extended into the passenger compartment of a four door Jeep SUV. Crews checked to ensure all occupants had self evacuated and began to extinguish the fire. Crews operated on the scene for just over a half hour. There were no injuries.
