Marking 100 years of continuous service to its community, the East Northport Fire Department's centennial celebration kicked off at 4 pm on June 7, 2008 with 30 Nassau and Suffolk County fire departments marching behind their equipment up Larkfield Road to headquarters, said department Chief Bruce Gosik.
Based on the parade's theme of "old and new," each participating department will present its oldest and newest trucks. As a precaution, the streets around the firehouse will close to traffic during and after the parade, so that all can enjoy the display of Antique Fire Trucks lined up along Larkfield Rd. Refreshments and drinks will be available after the parade at the Firehouse along with a firworks display at dusk.
"We will also be honoring 60-year member, ex-chief Leroy Kennedy, who will be our grand marshal for the parade," Gosik said. Pictured is Suffolk County Legislator Steven Stern, Ex-Chief Leroy Kennedy and Chief Bruce Gosik
